Franchising: How It Works
Gong cha makes franchising easy! The following steps outline the franchise process and how YOU can become part of the Gong cha.
Requirements:
This isn't a side hustle. We're looking for owners who are prepared to roll up their sleeves. If you aren't ready to be in your area and in your store for an extended amount of time-this might not be for you.
Minimum Available Cash to Invest of $175,000.
Step 1
Introduction to Gong cha
An overview of the Gong cha Franchise Opportunity including expectations, available locations, costs & items, and reception of the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). You can then review the FDD and take the steps to prepare for the interview in Phase 2. This is also when you will select your territory.
Step 2
Interview
This interview is an opportunity for us to get to know you better and make sure we are both a great fit for each other. In addition, to better understand your operation plan.
Step 3
Proposing a Location
You’ll submit a location within your selected territory for approval.
Step 4
Completing the Purchase
After your location is approved, you’ll then sign the Franchise Agreement and pay the franchise fee and other initial fees.
Step 5
Onboarding
All necessary training and orientation then take place to prepare you for opening your cafe. You will receive all of the support you need to ensure that when your doors open, you are fully prepared to operate your store in the Gong cha way.
Step 6
Construction
The physical construction and build out of your Gong cha location begin, including obtaining any necessary permits.
Step 7
Grand Opening
Finally, your Grand Opening day arrives! Your cafe will now be fully operational and open to all bubble tea lovers, everywhere!

What are the territories available?

Where can I receive the following information?
The above information is available in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). After you submit your application, a company representative will contact you.
Where will the training be held? Who should attend the training?
Before opening your first store, you and a designated store manager must attend the training program in East Lansing, Michigan which will take about 10 days.
What does it cost to buy an existing Gong cha store from a franchisee?
The agreement to buy an existing store is made between the buyer and seller. Costs vary on a case-by-case basis.
What is the profitability of the business?
There are many factors that can influence the result including: sales, location, financing terms, and ability to manage the business. For these reasons, we do not predict profitability for any store.
May I qualify financially with other partners?
A single applicant must personally meet the financial qualifications. However, if a partnership or corporation is formed, we will consider the overall financial strength of the business partnership or corporation.
What happens after I submit my online application?

What is the start-up cost for a new Gong cha store?
The estimated initial investment for a new store can range from $147,430 – $335,400 per unit.
How long is the entire process of becoming a Gong cha franchisee?
The process includes applicants’ pre-approval (credit check), business plan review, location review, fully executed franchise agreement, training, construction, and grand opening. On average, it takes approximately 30 days to approve an applicant. The length of time between signing the Franchise Agreement and opening a store is about 4 to 8 months.
Is it still possible to be approved as a new franchisee if I do not have direct experience before?
Experience of food/beverage is preferred, but not necessary.
Can I buy Gong cha ingredients and provide Gong cha products in my existing restaurant?
No, our ingredients can only be used in Gong Cha stores.
What separates Gong cha between its competitors?

Is financing available?
We do not provide financing but franchisees can use their own resources. We are approved by the SBA and on the SBA Franchise Directory.
